Saturday, March 28th @ Boyd Park

  • 10:00am – 10:30am: Six-year-olds hoping to play coach-pitch softball (Birthdates between May 1st, 2019 and April 30th, 2020)*

  • 2:00pm – 3:00pm: Pitching Evaluation and Clinic for girls ages 9 to 11 interested in pitching (Pitchers must provide their own catcher)

Those planning to coach should attend evaluations to assist with assessments prior to the draft. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

*If you feel your 6-year-old is ready for coach-pitch softball, please contact Rachel Austin to request evaluation consideration.

League Structure

Cheverly softball will include:

  • Coach-Pitch League: Ages 7–8
  • Player-Pitch League (with coach rescue): Ages 9–11

The launch of player-pitch softball depends on sufficient player and coach registration. If we cannot field enough teams, parents may choose a refund or register for CBGC co-ed baseball.

Questions? Contact Rachel Austin.

Fees and Uniforms

$85

Fees include a jersey and socks for all softball players.

Teammate Requests

We encourage new friendships and balanced teams. Buddy requests are discouraged but may be considered for pressing carpool needs. Please email Rachel by March 18. Requests are not guaranteed. Siblings in the same league will be placed on the same team unless otherwise requested.

Equipment / Clothing Requirements and Recommendations

Required Recommended
Fielding Glove (10.5” or larger) Batting Helmet (with face mask)
Pants Cleats (rubber/plastic only)
Fielding Face Mask

Players must bring their own softball glove. Softballs are larger than baseballs; ensure an 11-inch softball fits properly.

All players MUST wear long pants (sweatpants, leggings, or uniform pants) for safety. Batting helmets (with face masks) and bats are provided by CBGC, but personal helmets are encouraged.

Double wall and 100% composite bats are NOT permitted. Aluminum and hybrid bats are allowed. All bats must have an ASA Certified stamp and/or appear on the USA Softball approved list.

Cleats must be rubber/plastic (no metal spikes). Fielding face masks are encouraged and may become required in future seasons.

Coaches

CBGC is an all-volunteer organization. We need coaches and umpires for softball to be successful. Head coaches will receive a 50% registration rebate at the conclusion of the season.

Softball Coaches Meeting: March 29 at 7:00pm

Without enough coaches, we may not be able to field all registered players. Questions? Contact Rachel Austin.

Financial Assistance

CBGC does not want any child prevented from playing due to financial hardship. Financial assistance is available. Please contact the Athletic Director at Larry.Fry.CBGC@gmail.com. All requests are confidential.
