Welcome to the 2025 CBGC Softball Season!
CBGC is thrilled to offer softball for girls aged 7 to 9 years old for the 2025 Spring Season! This year, girls aged 7 to 9 years old can register for an all-girls coach pitch softball league. CBGC considers your child's age to be the age they will be on May 1st, 2025.
Registration can be found here: Softball registration

EVALUATIONS
If you feel your 6-year-old child is ready for coach pitch, they can be evaluated for placement into the girls’ softball league, details are as follows:
Saturday March 29th @ Town Park
- 10am – 11am: All Six-year-olds (Birthdates between May 1st, 2018, and April 30th, 2019)
If your six-year-old child is unable to make her tryout time, please email Rachel Austin at rachel.cbgc@gmail.com
If more players register for softball than expected, there will be evaluations for all players to adequately disperse players in a draft by skill level. There will be announcement if this occurs, but please block your schedule for 3/29.
LEAGUE STRUCTURE
For this first year of Cheverly Softball there will only be one league, and it will be coach pitch for 7- to 9-year-olds (6-year-olds in coach pitch will be dependent on the results of a player’s try-out). The hope is to create kid pitch leagues in subsequent years for older girls. The Coach Pitch league is a developmental league and will teach softball concepts to prepare players for kid pitch.
Depending on the number of players that register for softball, the league could potentially offer one practice a week for all players and break out into teams every Saturday for a game. Meaning, players would not have a permanent team assignment and all players would practice together and receive the same level of instruction from all available coaches. Rest assured, all players will receive a jersey and hat regardless of the team structure.
Finally, this is the first year of what could be a growing softball program. Please bear with us through the anticipated growing pains and know we are learning how to successfully run a softball program as your players learn the dynamics of softball.
If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Austin (rachel.cbgc@gmail.com).
FEES AND UNIFORMS
$85
Fees include a jersey and hat for all players.
EQUIPMENT/CLOTHING REQUIREMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
REQUIRED |
RECOMMENDED |
Fielding Glove |
Batting Helmet (with face mask) |
Pants |
Cleats |
|
Fielding Face Mask |
Players must purchase and bring their own softball fielding gloves. Please note, softballs are significantly larger than baseballs so gloves used by a player in previous years for tee ball or baseball may not be sufficient this year for fielding. When purchasing a glove, please ensure an 11-inch softball will fit.
All coach pitch players (softball and coed baseball) MUST wear long pants (either sweatpants or uniform pants). The dirt in the infields is very tough and the pants requirement is for safety. Softball players are not required to purchase baseball/softball specific uniform pants but are welcome to do so.
Batting helmets (with face masks) and bats are provided by CBGC (but players are welcome to purchase/bring their own). Purchasing helmets for a player’s personal use is highly encouraged this year due to the prevalence of lice. All batting helmets must have a face mask. Double wall and 100% composite bats are NOT permitted, this rule is out of consideration of safety for fielders and pitching coaches. Aluminum bats and hybrid bats (composite handle but not composite barrel) are acceptable. All bats must have an ASA Certified stamp and/or be on the USA Softball approved list.
Cleats are highly encouraged and must be rubber/plastic spikes, no metal spikes allowed. In addition, softball rules are trending to require more players to wear fielding face masks. CBGC is not requiring softball players to wear fielding face masks this year but are encouraged for players. Fielding masks may be required in subsequent years as it becomes compulsory in similar softball leagues.
COACHES
We are an all-volunteer organization. For softball to be successful we need coaches. The more coaches we have, the more successful this initial comeback of Cheverly Softball will be. We also need volunteers to serve as umpires. If you are interested and available, please let us know by clicking on the appropriate boxes when registering your child. Also, if you would like to coach, it is important that you attend evaluations so you can plan accordingly for the draft. All coaches will receive a 50% rebate for their registration at the conclusion of the season.
If you have any questions, please contact Rachel Austin (rachel.cbgc@gmail.com)
